MTA NDIS services in Melbourne for participants with high medical needs
If you are looking for an MTA provider who can support participants with complex care requirements and high healthcare needs—we can help.
SeenCare operates several supported independent living (SIL) homes in Melbourne. While these are mainly occupied with long term residents, there are occasions where we have availability for temporary accommodation, like MTA.
Our team of experienced disability support workers can support participants of all backgrounds. However, because we also have home nurses and bulk-billing GPs on staff, the level of care and support we can deliver extends far beyond the average NDIS provider.
If you would like to check on our vacancies or learn more about our MTA services, just fill in the ‘Enquire Now’ form or click the link below and we will be in touch.
Please Note: Because we specialise in supporting participants with higher needs, we can usually only accept referrals that include 1:1 support and active overnight care.
Most NDIS services are aimed at delivering longer term supports to help people with disability pursue their goals in the community. However, sometimes shorter term assistance is needed—especially when it comes to accommodation.
The two types of short term NDIS accommodation support are:
Funding for STA or MTA may be provided to NDIS participants who need time-limited housing support because of their personal and/or accommodation situations.
We’ll mainly be discussing MTA NDIS accommodation on this page. But if you alo want to learn about STA, check out our short term accommodation web page.
SeenCare provides both MTA and STA accommodation to NDIS participants living in Melbourne.

Medium term accommodation is a type of NDIS home and living support. While STA can usually only be used for 14 days at a time, NDIS medium term accommodation can be available for up to 90 days.
The main purpose of medium term accommodation NDIS is to provide temporary accommodation for participants who already have a confirmed long term housing solution.
For example, MTA accommodation may be available while a participant waits for a SIL vacancy to come up or for a SDA home to finish being built.
Some of the reasons you might be granted MTA funding NDIS are:
In all of the situations above, MTA will only be funded if it meets the NDIS criteria for being reasonable and necessary. You will also need to prove why you can’t remain in your current accommodation and that you have a confirmed long term accommodation placement.
Medium term accomodation NDIS funding can be included in your plan if a need is identified while working on other long term housing options (like SIL or SDA). In this case, you will already be working with NDIS-funded support providers.
Generally, someone like a support coordinator or local area coordinator will inform you that MTA funding NDIS might be beneficial. Then, they will go through your options and help you apply for funding if you agree.
MTA funding only covers the cost of accommodation, not regular supports. However, if you need ongoing support to live in the community, you will likely already have suitable funding for this.
You can use other funding from your plan (eg., SIL, transport assistance or personal care) to meet your care needs while living in MTA NDIS accommodation.
Most participants approved for MTA funding are waiting on more specialised housing, like SIL or SDA. Because of this, it’s common for their support and accommodation needs to be on the higher end. As a result, many standard housing options aren’t suitable for MTA.
Medium term accommodation is usually:
The workers helping you with organising long term housing can give suggestions on MTA providers. Or, you can approach providers yourself.
When looking at MTA NDIS options, you might like to consider the following:
If you answer “No” to any of the above questions, please raise any concerns with a support person or the MTA provider.
